Congenital disability

October 27, 2025

(John 9:3) Jesus answered, “Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.” ~ Jesus healed a man born with a disability. The disciples asked, “Who sinned? Was it the sin of the parents that caused this man’s disability? Or was it sin in a past life that caused this man’s disability?” Jesus replied, “Neither!” People born with disabilities are God’s way of manifesting His glory! In our common understanding, sin causes “illness,” and people born with disabilities are the result of their own karma. Why didn’t Jesus follow this common way of thinking? Instead, he pioneered a different way of thinking, telling us: People born with disabilities have nothing to do with karma; they are God’s way of manifesting His glory!

What message did Jesus want to convey? We have been taught from childhood that “destiny” is predestined! What is “destiny”? Many people believe in "name studies," fortune telling, Zi Wei Dou Shu (Purple Star Astrology), and many other forms of numerology and divination. The only thing they don't believe in is God's sovereignty! Yesterday, a brother said that a person's "goodness or evil" is determined in the mother's womb! I strongly disagree with this view! God created humans good, never evil! How could God determine a person's goodness or evil in the womb? Even with Jacob and Esau, God didn't say, "Jacob is good, Esau is evil!" Rather, God chose "Jacob," not "Esau!" There are too many preachers today who are ungrounded in biblical truth and interpret the Bible haphazardly! I say again: Preachers who interpret the Bible haphazardly are shorting God's glory! Preachers should not touch Scripture they don't understand, and never, ever, haphazardly interpret the Bible! Such haphazard interpretation can cause people to stumble! If I have the opportunity to preach, I must cross-verify the New and Old Testaments, not interpret the Bible according to my own preferences! Remember what Jesus said: "Woe to those who stumble!" We preachers must never become preachers who stumble others!!

By healing a person with a congenital disability, Jesus was telling us a truth: We are all creatures! You and I are all creatures! People born with disabilities are not particularly bad, nor are they the result of their parents' sin or their own sin; it is simply God's way of displaying His glory! Where does this sense of superiority come from? People always like to step on others to assert their superiority! Just like the Israelites, who always claimed to be the "chosen people"! Were the Israelites truly superior? Why did God choose the Israelites? Those who step on others' congenital disabilities to highlight their superiority are simply sick! Let me tell you: the Israelites are just like us ordinary people. In fact, they may even be worse and more deceitful than we are! God's choice of the Israelites had absolutely nothing to do with their excellence! God chose the Israelites because of Abraham! God is a covenant-keeping God! God honors the covenant he made with Abraham, and that is why God chose the Israelites! And why were the Levites allowed to serve as priests? Because God honored Moses and Aaron! Modern humanity is truly seriously ill! These people constantly exploit their sense of superiority to "deify" themselves! They separate themselves from those born with disabilities, their goal being to transform themselves into "gods"!

I'm richer than you, I'm better off than you, I'm better than you... and so on, so I'm God's chosen one! Are these arrogant people truly God's chosen one? I don't think so! Let me share another important rule of discernment: How do we know who God's chosen one is? It's simple! God Himself will tell mankind whom He has chosen! Therefore, we must never believe those who claim to be God's chosen one! God Himself will make this known to the world! Did Moses constantly boast that he was God's chosen one? Moses never boasted about being God's chosen one! How did the Israelites know that Moses was God's chosen one? Because God performed miracles through Moses, and He often communicated with Moses! Therefore, God's chosen one doesn't just boast; God will inevitably perform miracles through His chosen one! We shouldn't look down on or mock people born with disabilities. We are no different from them! In God's eyes, there is absolutely no "caste system"! People born with disabilities are God's means of manifesting His glory through them! We know that what man cannot do, God can do nothing! In fact, I like to say: Omnipotent! Why? Many people like to say: omnipotent! God has a very important attribute: He will never do evil! Therefore, omnipotence includes God's ability to do evil! Omnipotence means that God can do everything that man cannot! Man is most capable of doing evil! Therefore, omnipotence can lead God into sin! We must be very clear about God's attribute of "inability to do evil"! God will never do evil under any circumstances. This is how we know there is no trace of "evil" in Jesus! How do we distinguish between man and God? Man can do evil, but God absolutely cannot! God doesn't need to boast about being God! God only needs to prove His Godhood through miracles! So, is it very easy to distinguish between man and God? Finally, don't seek a sense of superiority in others' flaws. We are all sinners. There is no such thing as one being superior or one committing more sins. "Sin is sin"—there is no degree of comparison. In God's eyes, we are all sinners. There is no point in comparing!!
