Retribution

October 17, 2025

(Judges 9:56) Thus, God rendered the wickedness of Abimelech, which he did unto his father, in slaying his seventy brethren: ~To gain power, Abimelech rallied with the people of Shechem to kill Gideon's 69 sons. Only the youngest son escaped Abimelech's clutches. Many people continue to believe that there is no God in this world, and many people believe their own power is greater than God! Just like Abimelech, he thought that by joining forces with the people of Shechem to kill Gideon's sons, he could rest easy as king! We must say: There is justice in this world! Who exercises justice? The Creator exercises justice! If there were no righteous Creator today, Abimelech and the people of Shechem would not be "punished"! Why do people do evil? Because they don't believe in the righteous God of this world who sees the heart! Abimelech plotted to kill Gideon's 69 sons, believing himself to be incredibly clever. But God had already planned to destroy Abimelech! Abimelech and the people of Shechem plotted to kill Gideon's sons solely for their own benefit! Those who are too selfish, too greedy, and too focused on their own interests are doomed!

Why is there so much evil in this world? Because we don't fear the Creator! A proud, greedy, and selfish person cannot possibly be a God-fearing person! The evil in this world stems from people not believing that good is rewarded and evil is punished! Everyone takes their own thoughts as their law, believing that whatever benefits them is good, and whatever does not is evil. We know that this world is filled with "sophisticated egoists," and this is the root of its corruption. Many Christians keep talking about a Christian revival! I wonder: How can Christianity be revived? Will it be revived by raising more Charlie Kirks? If Christianity raises more critical and judgmental people, then the world truly lacks a Creator! There is only one important thing for the revival of Christianity: to eliminate those who are "sophisticated egoists"! For the revival of Christianity, we must have more of the selfless and selfless people! "Proud people" are inevitably selfish! Proud people are inevitably greedy! It's difficult to change a person's selfishness and greed, but we must make everyone understand: good is rewarded, evil is punished! Evil deeds don't go unpunished; they just haven't arrived yet! Good deeds don't go unrewarded; God will give them the greatest blessings and rewards at the perfect time!!

Seeing Abimelech slaughter his own brothers, I wonder how many still believe that the Israelites were the chosen people and that their character was noble? Israel's character was not noble at all; in fact, the Israelites were even uglier than the Chinese! We must understand: Chinese history books are also a filthy and bloody history! Humanity has never changed; it has always killed others for its own benefit! Why can't humanity stop killing? Because humanity lacks a heart that fears God! If we know that "there is a God above us," if we know that God is "a God who examines the heart," if we know that God will "give each person according to his deeds," then I want to ask: How many people will still dare to do evil? Are "human laws" reliable? Human laws are not reliable at all! Why do I say that human laws are unreliable? We in the United States all understand that American laws protect the rich people! People in China also understand that Chinese laws protect the rich and powerful people! Human laws are inherently imperfect and full of loopholes. This is why people spend exorbitant legal fees on the most expensive lawyers! Because lawyers are the ones who help criminals exploit loopholes in the law!!

(Matthew 24:12) And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. ~~Matthew says: "When lawlessness increases, the heart of man shall wax cold!" Why does lawlessness increase? Because these sinners simply don't believe in a Creator, they don't care about "punishment" and continue to commit crimes! If we knew there is a just God in this world and He will repay everyone according to their deeds, would we still sin so recklessly? If Abimelech knew he would be killed by the people of Shechem, would he still have killed his 69 brothers? If the people of Shechem knew God would punish them, would they have helped Abimelech kill his brothers? Sometimes, "retribution and reward" aren't immediate, but God will always repay everyone according to ourselves deeds! As the saying goes: Good deeds are rewarded, evil deeds are punished; it's not that there's no retribution, it's just that the time hasn't come yet! Good and evil will eventually be rewarded! I was just chatting with my mother and asked her, "Is my life getting better or worse?" She said, "Of course it's getting better!" I said, "Yes! Why is my life getting better? Because I believe in God! I understand what God wants me to do!" Although God constantly asks me to do many foolish things that don't benefit me, I know His grace alone is sufficient for me! Many people rely solely on themselves, using all their evil intentions to grasp immediate gains! They may win at the starting line, but can they reach the finish line? Many people don't believe in a Creator, let alone God's ability to judge or to punish everyone according to their deeds! If we commit crimes out of selfishness, is it really worth it? It's like a wealthy and powerful person who feels free to commit crimes and bribe a judge. If one day the judge he bribed dies, will he receive a heavier punishment? Don't be complacent. We must truly believe that good is rewarded and evil is punished! Only when we believe in retribution can we understand the importance of God's grace! I know my life is getting better, not because of my growing abilities, but because of God's increasing grace! Why does God give me grace? It's not because I'm doing well, but because I'm willing to obey God! "Obeying God" does require sacrificing many things, but only by "obeying God" can one be qualified to receive grace from God!!
