What's wrong with Self-Righteous?

May 5, 2022

I the most hated kind of person is "self-righteous", but I am that kind of "self-righteous"! I have often made a mistake in the past, and after becoming a Christian, I found that Christians all have the problem of "self-righteousness"! Is "self-righteousness" good? Or still not good?

We must first consider why individuals are "self-righteous"? What is my self-righteousness for? Real self-righteousness is not good because the mentality is wrong! The starting point of many people's self-righteousness is to see their own chicken-like interests! What is a chicken-like benefit? It is to use the accusation of the other party to improve their sense of superiority! Such people usually have persecutory delusions! We need to understand that some actions can reflect a person's heart! It's really sad that people who can't see other people's "good" usually only see other people's "bad" in their eyes! Our childhood education is to blame education! Blaming education for giving us an inexplicable sense of superiority! Accusing education allows us to stand on the highest point of morality! The most terrible product of "blaming education" is "bitterness"!

"Blame education" is the last thing we need in life! Because "blaming education" will make us "self-righteous", and self-righteousness will give us all kinds of "bitterness"! Why is it bad to blame, criticize, and abuse? We often see psychology teaching us to be true to our feelings! I just can't get used to him, I just feel that this is wrong, that is not good, I just... "I am" ~ Self-righteous! Therefore, we can generate so many accusations, abuses, and criticisms. In our hearts, we do not use the yardstick of "Truth", but from our own perspective!

A self-righteous person often brings out bitterness! Why bring out the bitterness? Because of self-righteousness, I will blame others everywhere, thinking that the whole world is wrong, and only I am right! And we unknowingly pass on "accusation education" in blaming others! We do not know how to appreciate the differences of others, and we are not willing to accept that others are not the same as us, and we cannot see the advantages of others in our eyes with understanding! Think about it: "self-righteousness" and "blaming education" are the real victims of our own! We would be living in a victim mentality environment where we would be in a high pressure environment all day long just blaming others! We don't know how to appreciate others, how to get along with people who are different from us!

(Matthew 23:3) All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.~True self-righteous people hate it because they can say, but do nothing. They often speak in grandeur, but they are full of filth and filthy!  Therefore, I have always emphasized that self-righteousness is not necessarily wrong, but it depends on what state of mind you have? Just like the Pharisees in the bible, Jesus never accused them of being wrong words, because the Pharisees knew the laws well, and they usually wouldn't accuse them of being wrong, but the Pharisees had the wrong "mind", they weren't really  blaming people for their "lovers", their purpose is to satisfy their "superiority"! That's why Jesus said: We all do what they say! Because they are not wrong for words, but their mentality is wrong, and they "can say but cannot do it"!

What is "can say ,but do nothing"?  It's that they don't want to do it at all, or that the superiority of the Pharisees controls others and lets them manipulate others to do it, but they don't have to do it themselves! Either way? But it's the worst kind! If we can say, but we can't do it, we don't have to rush to blame others! Look in the mirror before we blame others! As the Hokkien language says: turtles laugh and turtles have no tails! Having a tail or not is not the reason for walking slowly, but the real reason for walking slowly is that both turtles and soft-shelled turtles have heavy shells! So, whether we have a self-righteous mentality or not, we must understand that we are all "sinners" and we all have different weaknesses! So, it's not wrong to be self-righteous, but what is our real starting point? Why do we blame others? Is it because the bitterness of the past is lost to others? Or do we really want this person to live a better life? This is what Jesus said: "Love our neighbors as ourselves"!  Self-righteousness with "love" is good!
