(Matthew 27:5) And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, departed, and went and hanged himself. ~ After reading this verse, I wonder if you have any questions: Why did Judas commit suicide? Judas had already gotten what he wanted, so why did he commit suicide? Please don't tell me that Judas' conscience had changed, so he committed suicide out of shame! This is absolutely wrong. It's the standard answer among pastors around the world, but it's wrong! I've been wondering: Why do some people choose to commit suicide? Many psychologists are talking nonsense, saying that there are many reasons for suicide and it's difficult to understand what's going on in everyone's heart! Let me tell you, there's only one reason for suicide: a lack of hope and a lack of future prospects! Many shooters first kill as many people as possible and then commit suicide because they see no future and no hope, and they want to take others with them before they die! This is why there are so many shootings in the United States every year! Judas betrayed Jesus, and he got the money he wanted, but he still chose to commit suicide! Judas had accomplished what he wanted, but he still chose suicide. This means: Judas accomplished what he wanted, but he also severed his own hope and future! Strictly speaking, Peter also betrayed Jesus, but Peter did not commit suicide! Judas got the money he wanted, but he pushed himself into the abyss of despair, so Judas chose suicide!
Why do I say: Judas didn't commit suicide out of shame? And why do I say: Judas didn't repent? We all know the story of Zhou Chu eliminating the three evils. A truly repentant person would not choose suicide! Those who commit suicide always think about themselves! Thinking about themselves prevents them from escaping the abyss of despair, so they choose suicide! If betraying Jesus in exchange for money could have brought Judas hope, he would not have chosen suicide! There are many reasons for suicide, but the core key to suicide is despair and no hope! A person's despair about life leads them to suicide! Many pastors tell us that Judas wanted Jesus to be king, so Judas betrayed Jesus. This is a very irresponsible interpretation of the Bible! We don't know whether Judas wanted Jesus to be king, nor do we need to know. Judas' suicide is a fact! Biblical interpretations cannot be based on personal speculation or assumptions. Such irresponsible preachers will only cause the death of many. If Judas wanted Jesus to be king, would he not have betrayed Jesus? Would Judas have survived if Jesus had been king? Of course not! If Jesus had been king, Judas would have done even more outrageous things! If Judas could control Jesus's kingship, he would have ultimately eliminated Jesus and become king himself. This is simple human nature! Judas betrayed Jesus for thirty pieces of silver, the same amount the woman paid for the ointment of real spikenard. There are absolutely no coincidences in the Bible! Judas could betray Jesus for thirty pieces of silver, sacrificing Jesus' life. Judas' suicide was a death due to his own sin! But a woman could spend thirty pieces of silver to anoint Jesus with real spikenard. Jesus said this woman should be remembered, and this truly needs to be remembered! Jesus was more important to this woman than silver! This is why Jesus commemorated this woman!!
Many pastors truly do not understand biblical truth, and they have no idea what suicide is! They say suicide is a sin, but they don't understand what kind of sin it is. They say it's the sin of shedding innocent blood, which is certainly a misinterpretation of Scripture! Suicide is a sin of pride and a denial of God's sovereignty! Judas simply wanted to control Jesus, Judas wanted to be in control of everything, so he chose to betray Jesus! After betraying Jesus, Judas realized he couldn't control everything, his hope was gone, and Judas turned to despair and committed suicide! Judas' suicide is also a case of "evil pays off!" For someone like Judas, who betrayed Jesus, it would be difficult for ordinary law to hold him accountable for his sin. By committing suicide, Judas was taking the blame on himself. Suicide and euthanasia are both equally sinful! Those who commit suicide undoubtedly do not believe in God! Those who commit suicide undoubtedly believe they can control their own lives! Do you now have a better understanding of the true sins of suicide and euthanasia? Those who advocate suicide and euthanasia absolutely do not believe in a Creator, just as Judas never believed in the Creator. So, after Jesus died, Judas, in despair, chose suicide. What does Jesus represent? Jesus represents hope! When Jesus was crucified and died, people certainly could not see a Creator, nor could they see hope. So, Judas chose to end his life by suicide! Everyone should understand one thing: What is suicidal person like? Suicidal people are like living in darkness every day, unable to see a glimmer of light, because light is life's hope. Why are so many people at the bottom of society willing to work hard? Because they have light and hope in their hearts, while those who commit suicide have no light or hope at all. They are people who live in eternal darkness. Why are hell and the lake of fire so terrifying? Because hell and the lake of fire remain the same day for a thousand years. If you choose to enter the lake of fire, you should understand: the lake of fire is always burning, burning endlessly! You can never escape the fate of burning. Even worse, you cannot die because you have already died. This is why suicidal people choose suicide—they see no hope of living!!
From the story of Judas, we know that evil will be punished! Judas had 1,000 reasons to live, yet he chose the foolish and sinful act of suicide. Isn't this "evil will be punished"? Those who commit suicide or choose euthanasia must be guilty of their own sins! In fact, each of us has 1,000 reasons to live, but choosing suicide is the most foolish option. Despair is the primary cause of suicide! Despair means losing sight of the light within, of hope for the future. Regardless of our current situation, I want to tell you that "good is rewarded with good, and evil is punished with evil" is the law of nature! No matter how dark our current situation, as long as we persevere in righteousness, we will surely see the light at the end of the tunnel! Darkness teaches us to persevere. As long as we are willing to persevere, we will surely see the light! Doing evil may bring us temporary benefits, but it will ultimately lead us to despair. Pursuing the path of righteousness in darkness is always the right path to persevere!!
